ABOUT BALANCED BODY
Balanced Body Gainesville is a private physical therapy and wellness practice founded in 2001 by Bonnie S. Carr, PT, MS, IOC, a physical therapist with over 38 years of experience, ten of which have been in Pilates-based physical and aquatic therapy.
Over the years Ms. Carr has developed, refined, and taught an integrated systems approach to the clinical application of motor control and learning, comprising aquatic therapy, manual physical therapy and cutting-edge Polestar Pilates, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), other movement systems, and operant behavioral conditioning. Ms. Carr's method is called Graduated Guided Movement™.
At the heart of this method is a thorough, systematic assessment and description of the client’s presentation of problems. Every treatment session thereafter continues with the emphasis on assessment and the selection of the best-choice movement interventions. The emphasis is always on identifying the barriers to efficient and easy movement in the performance of functional activities.
At Balanced Body Gainesville our belief is that improved movement, especially in the spine, is the key to enhancing the quality of life for everyone. For our younger clients that can mean improved fitness, posture, flexibility, body shape and athletic performance. For our older patients that can mean decreased pain with daily activities, cessation of joint deterioration, improved balance, and prevention of the downward slide often associated with aging.
Balanced Body Gainesville is well known for evaluation and treatment of complex movement disorders and problems related to the back, neck, shoulder, hip. We regularly receive referrals of patients experiencing chronic pain from osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and other syndromes which have not responded well to traditional physical therapy, surgery, and alternative treatments.
The goal of the therapy in which we engage is to provide you, our patient or client, with a framework for maintaining free and easy movement without pain even after discharge. The end result is that you enjoy life to a greater degree because you have been empowered by understanding how to prevent pain recurrence and how to manage your particular problems efficiently.
